RFP for Global Mobility Technology

When Issuing an RFP for global mobility technology and before embarking on the procurement process for a technology tool to support your global mobility program, there are a few things you should consider.

Determine Your Goals

One of the first things you need to do is figure out exactly what it is you need/want from the global mobility application. Define the problem(s) you are trying to solve. Not every technology solution is the same. Make sure you gather input from the various stakeholders that will be accessing the tool to understand and incorporate their needs.

Technical Requirements

Once you’ve compiled your list, it’s a good idea to identify which items are true requirements, and those that are nice to have. The right tool must be able to meet your administrative needs and ensure that day to day processes can be automated so efficiency can be obtained. Weighting and ranking your ‘nice to have’ items can be helpful later during the evaluation phase.

Employee Experience

Many organizations today are being tasked with finding ways to enhance their employee’s experience. For a global mobility program, the relocating employee or employee going on assignment is your most important stakeholder. Be sure to include this perspective in your list of requirements.

Live Demos

For critical requirements, you may want to do more than just ask whether or not the system can perform the task. Clearly articulate the need from the tool – provide an example of the output needed, or the process to be followed, and have the provider show you, live in the system, how those tasks can be completed. Use the demo to get a sense of how intuitive the tool is, how many clicks does it take to perform routine tasks, and can desired output be duplicated?

Involve Your IT Security Group

Enlist help from your IT security team. With increased concerns around privacy, data protection and cyber security, along with emerging regulatory requirements like GDPR, it’s a good idea to involve your company’s IT security team in the beginning to ensure potential tools meet your company’s security requirements before you invest a lot of time pursuing a particular tool.
